Family owned and operated, Mountain Home Cabinet Company has been serving the Pacific Northwest and Portland metro area for four decades.
Founded by John Earp, this company was born out of a craft booth at our very own Portland Saturday Market. Our commitment to quality, attention to detail, and customer service is the foundation of who we are today.
We work closely with home owners, contractors, designers, and architects to create exactly what you are looking for. Our skilled team takes pride in constructing the highest in quality cabinetry and furniture.
Our facility boasts the most modern computer controlled equipment to give us extreme accuracy and unparalleled productivity. At the same time, we do a fair amount of hand work. Smoothing a board with a sharp hand plane, or easing a corner edge by hand has been done for hundreds of years and is still necessary to achieve the level of quality in the details that is our heritage in fine woodworking.i
Founded in 1976, MHCC began in the basement of a SE Portland home crafting spice cabinets and
stained glass mirror's to sell at Portland’s Saturday Market, a long-running open air hand crafted market.
John Earp, president and founder, gained enough attention to open a storefront on Antique Row in the Sellwood neighborhood. With all the traffic in the neighborhood, it wasn't long before requests for bath vanities, bookshelves, and various cabinet orders began. John wore out the Cabinetmaking and Millwork Handbook teaching himself this new trade.
During the following years John built upon this foundation with hard work and dedication and orders began outpacing production capacity. John’s degree in manufacturing engineering from Oregon State University helped him integrate high tech CNC equipment to improve productivity while still maintaining the handmade heritage. Over the years MHCC is proud to have completed projects all over the Portland Metro area and has shipped jobs from LA to New York City. Recently, MHCC moved to Damascus, Oregon doubling the shop and office space. There is now a spray booth, a solid surface fabrication area, and a showroom.
Mountain Home has always been a family operation. From the early days at the Saturday Market with only his wife Stephanie and brother in law Doug until the present. Family has been integral to the success of the business.
The satisfaction of taking raw material and turning it into something new and beautiful is almost as satisfying as sharing the joy of a new kitchen with a delighted customer. “You get to keep them, but they will always be our cabinets too!”
